If you’ve set up your own Lead scoring model, you might be wondering how you can then go about using lead scores to create a segment. You might want to send a Lead through a Journey once they hit a specific score to try and keep them engaged. Alternatively, you may wish to remove Leads from Journeys if they end up with a negative score. Setting up your Segments for this is pretty easy by adding the Lead score table and using values and attributes from that table. This post will show you how to achieve this.

First off, start by creating a new segment. This one will be Leads With Scores, and of course, the target audience is Leads.

Start by adding a table from the right hand side of the segment.

Search for the Lead score table and click the box to add it.

After adding it, search for the Score field and add it to the Segment.

You will be prompted to set the attribute with the link between Lead score and Lead. This is pretty straight forward because there is only one option available, so pick the Lead attribute from the dropdown and then click Done.

You can now use the Score field to find people who have a specific score or higher, or equals, or is lower than etc.

If you are using grades, you could use that field to filter on if you wanted to.

I usually add in a bit more to a segment, to make sure the Lead is actually Open, and also that the email address field contains the @ symbol.

I can then use that segment to start a Journey, and any time a Lead falls in to the Segment above because their score is 50 or above, they will start on that Journey.

If I want to take out Leads with a Negative Score, I can create another segment using the Lead score table, with simple criteria of Score is less than 0.

This will then allow me to use this as alternate exit criteria and take the lead out if they fall in to the Leads With Negative Scores segment.
